Actual Client

I was working in Western Kansas, and I was backed over by a contractor’s pickup truck, driven by a worker for another company. I live out of state. I really wasn’t sure what to do. The doctors were telling me I would never be able to return to work, but I wasn’t quite old enough to retire. I was worried about my financial future and medical bills.

I called attorney Scott Mann. His law firm is Mann Wyatt Tanksley Injury Attorneys. He gave me a free consultation and told me he could help represent me in both the worker’s compensation claim and the auto claims. He explained that his goal would be to get the best medical care, get all of my medical bills paid and then maximize my recovery in both claims. This was a 2-year long process and Scott, and his legal assistant Carrie, were always there to answer my questions, and patiently explain my legal rights and the procedures for enforcing my claims.

Scott made sure that my wife and I continued to receive weekly “off work” checks up through the day that both cases settled, so we could pay our rent, utilities, and bills.

Scott filed suit in Federal Court against the driver and his employer, and this case was settled for $675,000. Scott then negotiated a settlement of my worker’s compensation case for an additional $150,000 payment. The law in Kansas allows the worker’s compensation insurance company to make a claim against the injured worker’s auto settlement. This is called a “worker’s compensation lien.” The lien claim would have reduced my share of the auto settlement by over $300,000. Scott pressured the worker’s compensation insurance company to walk away and waive the entire worker’s compensation lien. This meant I did not have to pay back over $300,000 from my auto settlement to the work comp insurance company.

Altogether the value of the settlements and the lien waiver totaled over $1,100,000.

My wife and I are building a new home. I am very appreciative of Scott’s hard work and legal skills. I would strongly recommend to anyone that’s been in an accident to call him immediately. You won’t regret this decision. I know I haven’t!
